General usage
There are several reasons why you might want to save projects or templates to files:
- For offline editing
- To transfer projects or templates from one DEON server or DEON client to another
- As a backup
Download projects
- Select one or more projects in your project list (hold Shift or Ctrl to select multiple projects at once).
For templates, you can do the same in your library. - Right-click and select "Save As…"
in the project list or "Export" in the library.
Remember that the downloaded projects or templates are copies of the originals without any relationship between them. The original projects remain on the server. If the projects were shared with other users on the server, this information is not saved. If you plan to upload the projects later, you will need to share them with these users again if you wish.
Offline editing
To edit a downloaded project or template, simply double-click the downloaded .join or .deon file. You do not need a connection to a DEON server for offline editing. You can do this without a network connection.
Remember that changes made during offline editing are not saved automatically. You need to press the "Save" button in the top left corner to update the file.
Upload to a DEON server
- Click the 'Import' button in your project list
(regardless of whether you are uploading projects or templates). - Select one or more projects (hold Shift or Ctrl to select multiple projects at once) and click "Open"
Remember that projects or templates with identical names to existing ones on the server are not merged or overwritten. After downloading and uploading a project to the same server or tenant, you will have two copies of this project. However, you can copy/paste between these projects if you want to manually merge changes made during offline editing. To do this, open both projects side by side and use Ctrl+C (or Ctrl+X) and Ctrl+V.
If the project you downloaded was shared with other users, you need to share it again after uploading, as this information is not saved during download.
