DEON on Microsoft Surface Hubs 84

You can currently use DEON on Microsoft Surface Hubs of the 1st generation (84 and 55 inches) by connecting an external PC. For optimal performance, please follow the instructions below.
NOTE: We have discontinued the previous DEON UWP app for Surface Hub, which could be installed on the integrated PC, as new DEON features could not be ported to the restricted UWP operating system. The release of a completely new solution that will overcome some of the limitations and still enable the use of the integrated PC is planned for the end of this year. Until then, please connect an external PC to the hub.

If you are using an external PC to run DEON on the Surface Hub 84 or 55, we strongly recommend switching the Hub to “Replacement-PC-Mode”.
This gives you full performance and all the features of the DEON Windows Version.
IMPORTANT: The high refresh rate of 120Hz at full UHD resolution of 3,840×2160 is only possible in “Replacement-PC-Mode”. Without it, you can only use the “Guest-Mode”, which allows a maximum of 30Hz at full resolution. Multitouch and Stylus operation at 30Hz is almost unusable.
You can switch back from “Replacement-PC-Mode” to normal mode at any time without losing configurations.
If you cannot use “Replacement-PC-Mode” for any reason, we recommend reducing your PC's resolution to Full HD to achieve at least 60Hz refresh rate.

What you need to operate a Surface Hub 84 in Replacement-PC-Mode at 120Hz UHD:
  • A PC with two video outputs that can display four DisplayPort 1.2 streams (two streams per cable). NOTE: Using only one output still works, but offers a lower refresh rate and/or lower resolution.
  • Two video cables from the PC output (DP or Mini DP or USB-C Thunderbolt 3 or mixed) to the two DisplayPort inputs of the Surface Hub. Short cables (<=2m) recommended.
  • A USB cable to use Touch, Stylus, Cameras, and the Surface Hub's microphone array.
Connecting the Surface Hub 84 in Replacement-PC-Mode:
  1. Turn off the Surface Hub: First, shut it down using the button on the side, then use the main power switch next to the power cord to completely turn it off.
Remove the cover from the Replacement-PC slot on the underside of the Hub:
  2. Set the small DIP switch to Replacement-PC mode.
  3. Connect two video cables from the PC (DP or Mini DP or USB-C Thunderbolt 3 or mixed) to the two DisplayPort inputs (short (<=2m), 4K-capable cables recommended). Connect a USB cable from the PC to the USB port "Internal Devices".
  4. Turn on the Surface Hub and select "PC" as input (use the input selection button on the side of the Surface Hub). Do not use "DP", as this only refers to the additional single DisplayPort input.
  5. Turn on your PC.
If the hub is not automatically detected at 3840×2160 @ 120Hz:
Check that you are not using the "Duplicate screen" mode in Windows, but rather "Single screen".
To check if you are working at 3840×2160 @ 120Hz:
Search and open "Display settings". Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings".
  6. If Touch, Stylus, Microphone, and Cameras are not recognized by default, you can download the drivers from Microsoft: SurfaceHubReplacementPCDrivers.1.1.003.msi
