DEON desktop app
This is how DAIA looks in the DEON desktop app, available for Windows and for Mac with Apple Silicon. DAIA works the same way in the browser.
Open and close DAIA
Opens or closes the DAIA panel. The first time, you activate DAIA once and agree to the terms of use and the privacy policy. Your data is not used to train the AI models.
You change the width of the panel by dragging on the left edge.
Conversations
Opens the list of your conversations in this project, with the most recent first. From here, you can continue conversations, rename them, display them as a graph, or delete them.
Only you can see your conversations. Other members of the project cannot see them unless you place them on the board as a graph.
Chat as graph
Draws the current conversation onto the board as a chain of text labels. Each new response automatically extends the graph, even when the panel is closed. The graph is visible to all members of the project.
Clicking again ends the drawing. The existing labels remain on the board as normal labels. The button appears as soon as the conversation contains a message.
Import project knowledge
DAIA captures the contents of your project: text from labels and sticky notes, documents, images, the addresses of websites, and groups of related elements (clusters). DAIA then answers questions about these contents and names the elements on which the answer is based.
Import again after major changes. Unchanged contents are skipped. Images and clusters consume credits.
Delete project knowledge
Deletes everything DAIA has imported from this project. The project itself remains unchanged. The button only appears when project knowledge is present.
A later import will then process all content again.
Use Microsoft 365 Copilot
Connects your Microsoft 365 Copilot. DAIA can then also respond based on your content in SharePoint, Office, Teams, and Outlook. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required. When you switch it on for the first time, you sign in to Microsoft.
The setting applies to the current session.
Conversation title
DAIA automatically gives each conversation a suitable title. Click it to rename the conversation.
Chat as a graph on the board
Your questions appear as strongly colored labels, the answers from DAIA in half color intensity, connected by arrows.
They are ordinary DEON text labels: you can move, scale, recolor, and edit them, and thus develop new content directly from the conversation. Select multiple labels and move them together using frame selection.
Branching
Select exactly one label of the graph. When you receive an answer, the panel jumps back to that point, and your next question starts a new branch there. For one of your questions, it appears again in the input field so that you can rephrase it and receive an alternative answer.
DAIA only receives the history up to the selected point. This keeps each branch thematically clean.
Sources from the project
If an answer is based on content from your project, sources with a number and relevance in percent appear below it, with the most relevant first. Clicking one takes you directly to that element on the board.
The conversation
Questions and answers appear as speech bubbles. Drag an answer by its edge onto the board to create a text label from it. You can also drag out selected text. The label then contains only that part.
On request, DAIA also creates content itself, such as sticky notes, shapes, arrows, or entire diagrams. You can undo each such action with a single step.
Additional sources
You can open links from the response with a single click. You can also drag any source onto the board to embed it there.
For responses with Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint documents land in the inbox with a click.
Input field
Enter your question or instruction here. Enter sends, Shift+Enter creates a new line.
If you select elements on the board beforehand, they appear above the input field as context. DAIA then relates your next question to exactly these elements, for example "Summarize these notes“.
Viewport context (eye)
By default, DAIA responds based on the entire project. If you turn on the eye, DAIA receives an image of your current viewport with your next question. The image is captured at the moment you turn it on.
The eye applies to one question and then automatically turns off again.
New conversation
Starts a new conversation without the previous history. This is recommended as soon as you change the topic. Your previous conversations remain in the list.
Send
Sends your message. While DAIA is responding, it becomes a stop button. A stopped response retains the previous text.
The DAIA panel is your command center for AI in DEON.
You open it via the DAIA button in the top right of the project. Here you can import your project's knowledge, ask questions, have DAIA create content on the board, and continue conversations as a graph. Hover over the highlighted areas in the image or tap them to learn more.

Project Knowledge & Context
- Import project knowledge ("The Brain“)
To enable DAIA to answer questions about the content of your project, import the project knowledge once.
- Start import:
Click the brain icon at the top of the DAIA panel and confirm with Import. A progress indicator in the panel shows what is currently being processed; elements being imported are indicated on the board by an animated ring. - What gets imported:
Texts from labels and sticky notes, documents, images, the addresses of websites, and groups of related elements (clusters). Images and clusters are described by an AI and consume credits; plain text is free. - Keeping knowledge up to date:
Import again after major changes. Unchanged content is skipped in the process. In the dashboard, projects with imported knowledge carry the label AI memory ready. - Deleting knowledge:
Use the trash icon to delete the imported knowledge. The project itself remains unchanged. A later import will then process all content again.
- Control context: What should the AI talk about?
You control what DAIA's responses are based on:
- Entire project:
By default, DAIA responds based on the imported project knowledge and can look up elements on the board as needed. - Selection as context:
Highlight elements on the board and they will appear above the input field under "Context". Your next question, such as "Summarize these notes" or "What does this image show?", will then refer to exactly these elements. Use the cross next to an entry to remove it again. - Current viewport ("The Eye"):
Turn on the eye icon at the bottom of the panel. DAIA will then receive an image of your current viewport with your next question. The image is captured at the moment you turn it on, and the eye automatically turns off again after the question.
- Connect corporate knowledge (Microsoft Copilot)
If you use Microsoft 365 Copilot, DAIA can also incorporate your company content beyond the project.
- Enabling Copilot:
Click the Copilot icon at the top of the DAIA panel. The first time, you sign in to Microsoft, after which DEON verifies your license. A prerequisite is an assigned Microsoft 365 Copilot license. - What Copilot adds:
DAIA can then also answer questions based on your content in SharePoint, Office, Teams, and Outlook. DAIA decides on its own when Copilot is queried. - Using sources:
Copilot answers list their sources below the answer. SharePoint documents land in the inbox with a click or can be dragged directly onto the board. - Duration and switching off:
The setting applies to the current session. Clicking the icon again switches Copilot off.
Interaction & Chat

- Enter a question:
Type your question or instruction into the input field and press Enter or the Send button. Shift+Enter creates a new line. While DAIA is responding, the Send button becomes the Stop button. - Check sources:
Below answers that are based on your project, sources appear with a number and relevance in percent. A click takes you directly to the element on the board from which the information originates. Open links from the answer by clicking or drag them onto the board. - Manage conversations:
Via the list icon at the top left of the panel, you can find all your conversations in this project, which you can continue, rename, or delete. Use the pencil icon at the bottom to start a new conversation as soon as you change the topic.
- Graph Chat: Discussion in the Workspace
To discuss complex topics clearly, place the conversation as a graph directly on the board.
- Enable chat as graph:
Click the graph icon at the top of the panel. The conversation appears as a chain of text labels on the board, and each new response automatically extends it. The graph is visible to all project members and consists of normal labels that you can move, resize, and edit. - Branching:
Select exactly one label of the graph. When you reply, the panel jumps back to this point, and your next question starts a new branch there. For one of your questions, it appears again in the input field so that you can rephrase it. DAIA only receives the history up to the selected point, so each branch remains thematically clean. - Stop drawing:
Clicking the graph icon again stops drawing. The existing labels remain on the board.
Create & Export Content
- Use and create content
- Drag & Drop:
Drag a response from the edge of the panel onto the board to create an editable text label. You can also drag out selected text. - Have DAIA create content:
Ask DAIA, for example, "Create five sticky notes with risks for this plan" or "Draw a flowchart of the onboarding." DAIA creates sticky notes, text labels, shapes, arrows, and entire diagrams. You can undo each action with a single step. DAIA does not modify existing elements. - Generate images:
Images generated by DAIA land in the project inbox. With one click on the preview below the response, you place an image on the board. - Export:
Export graph labels and all other content as usual: select the selection and click Export in the selection bar. PDF, PNG, and JPEG are possible, and in the desktop app additionally PowerPoint. Create multi-page slides via a presentation and export slides.
- Manage credits
Requests to DAIA consume credits, as does the import of images and clusters into project knowledge. Plain text is imported free of charge, and unchanged content is skipped on re-import. If your organization's credits are used up, DAIA reports this in the conversation.
